Good design begins and ends with the user. Cook's Illustrated, a long time recipe subscription service that lives under the America's Test Kitchen brand, was in need of a major overhaul of their website.
Learning that their customer base had evolved and is more expectant of technology, personalization, and mobility two mood board directions were created to inform design direction, copy tone of voice and photography style. A tablet experience was created that reflects a spread within a cookbook with a fixed left photo of the finished recipe and a scrollable right side with step by step instructions, video tips, and rich photography. A homepage dashboard experience would draw up relevant content, recipes, and tips based on personalized history.
